Robert Schwan (1930-2007)

The focus on Southwest Minnesota photography contest bears Robert schwan's name because of his love for this area. An avid photographer. Robert has taken many photos of outdoor scenes in Southwest Minnesota.

Robert became his tenure with the company long before it became a global food industry leader. As a teenager, he helped his parents and older brothers operate the Schwan's Dairy in Marshall, Minnesota, before joining the U.S. Navy following high school graduation. Returning from the military; Robert built a very successful southwest Minnesota delivery route for the company before moving into a production position at the Schwan's Ice Cream Plant. Later, he joined the purchasing department where he bought ingredients for Schwan's products. With 50 years of service, he has the longest tenure of any Schwan's employee. He enjoyed photography - his passion - as much as his work.

Robert was the younger brother of Founder, Marvin Schwan and current Chairman, Alfred Schwan.
